Dark Horse Series!

General:
Continuing the recent domination of world class bouldering competitions in the NorthEast, big ups to the Boston Rock Gym's Heart of Steel, MetroRock is holding a four comp Dark Horse series, culminating in a heart-stopping Championship round where ten of the country's most vicious, blood-thirsty competitors battle for the top spot. With $8,300 up for grabs, this series is packing some serious heat. Your mission: train and suffer because this is the year for you to become…the Dark Horse.

Specifics:

This is how its going down: the first three competitions will run with the standard Citizens comp. The top five competitors in each Open category will advance to finals in the evening with $1,100 for the Open cash purse.

But here's the kicker: the top finisher for Male Open and Female Open for each Dark Horse comp get a by into the Dark Horse Championship round, completely bypassing the Qualifying round in Newburyport.

The qualifying round of the series will begin in Newburyport, where the strongest climbers from all the land (anybody can compete) will battle for their position in the Championships lineup the following night in Everett. Top Ten are taken for each Pro Division, which means only seven spots for male and female will remain vacant since three will already have bypassed this round. These Finalists will battle for their split of the $5,000 cash purse.

Finals in Everett will run standard world-cup style with 5 minutes to climb and 5 minutes to rest. For the Championship show their will be a spotlight setup, adrenaline-pumping tunes, kegs, MC, and all the plastic-pulling madness you're brain can handle for one night. Oh, and there will be an after party, so you can't leave.

  2. Each Citizens comp will have a beginner, intermediate, advanced, and open.

Beginner (V0-V3), Intermediate (V4-V6), Advanced (V7-V9), and Open (V9 and Up). Basically, the standard Citizens comp format.

Top 5 from each Open category will go to Finals in the afternoon and compete for the cash.
